IEEE MACE had the privilege of hosting the Kochi Hub Meet(KHM) this year and WOW!What an event it was!Held from August 26th to 28th,this three day event saw the participation of nearly 240 participants from over 40 colleges.
It’s during these events that you really get to know and experience what IEEE is all about. How it’s not some organization which conducts a truck load of workshops and talks but an arena which brings a set of common minded individuals together,it’s a place where you learn and grow together. Here’s a peak….
The workshop’s conducted were 3D blender,Open CV,Ruby on Rails and Managerial.Of which Managerial stood out the most since it was the most interactive of them all.It basically aimed at improving your people skills and wanted to give out the message that your idea is waiting for you.All this was done through various fun filled activities such as making a whole project out of plastic straws and pins which was done to teach the importance of learning to carefully input your limited resources into a useful product.
THE GAMING SESSION or as I like to call it the ice breaking session:
Carefully masterminded by team MACE and let me tell you it was AMAZING!It was what brought everyone together.I’m not going too much into the details of that. What happened was that the entire crowd was quite randomly divided into 16 groups(which was the best part if I say so myself)because now all of a sudden not only did you have to interact with strangers but also work together to complete the task given.
THE CULTURAL NIGHT:
After the gaming session which rocked the evening, the MACE music club MUSE and dance club MADC put up their electrifying performance that made up an amazing night.
Never before done in KHM history, this was definitely one of the major highlights.Conducted on day 2,the dinner was in a Thattukkada set up.The sheer effort put in by our volunteers in setting up the whole thing at the OAT in such limited time is truly worth the applause. It was definitely a different kind of experience because there you are with a plate full of delicious food and a group of newly made friends, sitting under the stars. What more could you ask for?
TALK BY LADHA NAIR:
Now let me tell you this wasn’t a technical talk but it was definitely the most inspiring. She came to remind us a few things. One our commitment to society as an Engineer but more importantly as a human being. Two,the need to put aside our ego’s to see things clearly and thirdly to never ever give up on our dreams.
So yeah, KHM ended on a good note with everyone wishing for more.Everyone left with lot’s of memories, friends and of course with new technical insight.
