Internet of Things (IoT) represents the next big step in the evolution of the internet, which brings along with it a change in the way we will gather, analyse and process data. Market analysis predicts that the number of connected devices will increase from 25 billion in 2015 to 50 billion in 2020. In this context IoT becomes immensely important because it will revolutionize how we will live, learn, work, do business and entertain ourselves. Considering the current thrust on Information Communication Technologies and Electronic Sector Design and Manufacturing by Government of India, and in view of forthcoming ‘Internet of Things’ policy in India, there is an immediate requirement of building capacity and skills around Internet of Things.
The idea behind the workshop is to arouse interest among budding engineers by introducing them to the various types of robotics systems, throwing light on their basic structure and their integration with fifth generation of computers,that we call Artificial Intelligence. It also discusses needs of the current mechatronics sector. In this workshop the participants will be updated about all the latest technologies that are coming up in the automation industry. Apart from all these the team will share the experiences of various projects which they had done in past and some of their current projects.
This workshop will also provide a platform where young engineers can mould their imagination into reality and feel the excitement first hand. The Internet of Things (IoT) is the next wave the world is going to witness. Today we live in an era of connected devices (mobile phones, computers etc.), the future is of connected things ( Home appliances, vehicles, lamp-posts, personal accessories, your pets, industrial equipments and everything which you use in day-to-day life). Internet of Things is a term given to the attempt of connecting objects to the internet and also to each other – allowing people and objects themselves to analyse data from various sources in real-time and take necessary actions in an intelligent fashion. All highly technologically forward companies have welcomed IoT and are putting huge investments and R&D efforts in this domain. Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG) predicts some 25 billion devices will be connected by 2015, and 50 billion by 2020 and the market size, as predicted by GE is 10-20 trillion USD.
The workshop has been designed with the following objectives:
i.Give Learners the confidence to build their own products
ii.Provide introduction to Internet of Things (IoT)
iii.Exposure to various sub-fields and technology stacks of IoT
iv.Enable people to convert their IoT product idea into a working prototype
v.Provide thorough working knowledge of the AVR Platform
vi.Bring-up entrepreneurs and innovators by supporting them with investment and mentorship
