Story of The Macepost

This is one of the drafts that has been in The Macepost website as long as we can remember now. And we feel it is time we finally published it. And which other day if not today! Because it is the 15th of July, 2015! The Macepost has completed two years to date. So many students of MACE have contributed to keep the website going on. We have tried to do our best to make the website student friendly and useful. The site has been relaunched recently and work is still going on to make it even better. Together, let us take this forward and make it something every maceian will be proud of. Wishing you another fantastic academic year.

Prologue :

By now, most of you would have heard of the website It is an unofficial website, managed entirely by the students. The uniqueness of the website lies in the fact that anyone can post content in the website (published after moderation). The story behind MACEPOST is a fascinating one…

The Story :

A couple of second year guys were on their way to take part in the tech-fest at IIT-Madras. Suddenly, someone came up with a great idea. “Why don’t we start a monthly newsletter, giving details of all the activities of the campus? We hardly get to know anything happening in our college.” They found it amusing. And the more they thought about it, the more they found it appealing. They decided to wait until they reached their third year. The guys in the story are Nirmal Jacob, Cecil John and Sidharth Babu (2008-12 batch).

The guys in the story told Saji sir (former faculty of Mechanical Dept). He spoke to our Principal, and got permission to do it. So they formed a small committee, and decided to bring the first POST during 2011 Sanskriti. There were four articles in it.. 1500 copies were printed. Of these, around 1000 copies were distributed. It is available online at However, they incurred around Rs.6000/- as expense towards this, and as a result had to abandon the idea of a newsletter. Instead, they used to sent important notifications via SMS for some time, and later started a blog. But, again, they couldn’t live out their dream as their blog got blocked. 😀 So, the focus shifted to starting a full time website. Sadly though, they were in their final year then, and with little time left, they couldn’t start the website. They left the task to their juniors, but, they too couldn’t do it on account of MEDHA and other activities.

They had nearly given up hope, but decided to try again.  Ajith Joseph (2010-2014 batch) was approached and given the task of starting the website from scratch, and the rest, as they say, is history! 😛

The website was unofficially launched on July 15th, 2013, and has received a very good response from one and all. Efforts are underway to make the website more useful for the students, staff and alumni. The onus is on the coming batches to make sure that the website stays live and updated.”
