The shimmering light,

Sneaked into the darkness.

Revealing the hidden,

The forgotten.

Outlining everything,

That was long gone.

The beauty of which

Was lost in the dust.

Never have I seen

Never have I felt

The wonder,

The marvel,

Lying beneath.

I look into the reflection

Mirroring the fear

The apprehension,

To hope, to believe.

The heart  leapt with joy,

But the mind restrained with doubt.

For it knew

Nothing hurts more

Than the illusion of hope.

Suffocating in the grasp of darkness.

So it held back

Looking onto the gleam

Fading away

As darkness swept again.
